Tradingzone is more than a business model

There was a time before the Tradingzone. When the three founders of the company were tasked with removing furniture during relocations and site closures.

This furniture had one destination: the nearest disposal site. Small trucks full of furniture were simply destroyed before 2006. After just a few weeks, the company founders realized what they were doing:It doesn't have to be that way, it shouldn't be that way, it mustn't be that way! Why should good office furniture simply be thrown away? Office furniture in particular is durable, stable and can usually be used for more than 10 years. That would also be much cheaper for the companies! A goal was born: to give every piece of second-hand office furniture a new task.Of course, only after appropriate quality control by experts.

What if the quality is no longer right?

Our storage and logistics experts dismantle office furniture that is no longer needed into its component parts and hand them over to our partner companies for correct recycling. For example, wood waste is turned into pellets, which we then use to heat our buildings.

Our contribution to the environment

Transport optimization

Logistics– complex and indispensable – iis asignificant CO2 driver for many retail companies. The primary objective is: no detours, no empty runs.

If you do not select a preferred delivery date in the store, we will deliver flexibly. This creates freedom in planning and guarantees maximum utilization of our delivery fleet. Thanks to the experience of one of the largest logistics companies in Switzerland, we can draw on additional expertise in logistics management.

Energy savings in new buildings

Every company is familiar with conflicting objectives in the financial year. For us, the demand for constant product availability means that we need more stock. In conjunction with the growing customer base, a warehouse was built in Regensdorf in 2016. The building meets modern construction standards and has been supplying itself autonomously with energy in the most important areas since 2020 and with heat since its inception.

Photovoltaics

Since 2020, all electricity for the electric vehicle fleet and operations has been generated from solar energy. The previous, wild green roof had to make way. The Photovoltaic system generates up to 430kWp of solar power and could supply up to 100 single-family homes with electricity . A small step and yet another milestone for Tradingzone AG

LED lighting with sensors

In Regensdorf, we have installed LED lighting throughout the building. Most of the lights are equipped with motion sensors so that they only light up when someone is actually in the room. This is both practical and ecologically sensible in larger rooms.

New ways for your office furnishings, sustainable, circular and future-proof

In times of scarce resources, increasing environmental regulations and a growing awareness of sustainability, we are rethinking office furniture: not as a one-off purchase, but as a continuous cycle. At Tradingzone, we offer sustainable office furniture as part of the circular economy - from planning and use to recycling. Our vision is to design working environments that retain their value in the long term, conserve resources and strengthen companies both economically and ecologically.

What does circular economy mean in the office furniture sector?

In contrast to the linear model of "produce, use, dispose", the circular economy relies on closed material and product cycles. (BAFU)

In the furniture industry, this means in concrete terms:

  • Design products so that they can be repaired, dismantled and are modular
  • Select materials so that they are recyclable or reusable
  • Focus on longevity and multiple use
  • Establish take-back and refurbishment systems

Ideally, furniture is refurbished after initial use and placed on the market again (refurbishing), or individual components are used as secondary raw materials. (Swiss Recycling)

Why sustainable office furniture & circular economy are relevant today

Ecological pressure and regulation

The political framework conditions in Switzerland and Europe are becoming more stringent. Companies are increasingly being measured in terms of resource efficiency and circularity - whether in public tenders or ESG criteria. (KOF Institut)

Cost efficiency over the life cycle

Sustainable furniture pays for itself through lower replacement costs, repairability and recycling - especially in large facilities with frequent conversion requirements.

Image and competitive advantage

Companies that opt for ecological office furnishings strengthen their brand profile, attract environmentally conscious customers and employees and meet increasing CSR requirements.

Innovation and future potential

Switzerland is currently in transition to a circular economy - many companies are strategically implementing approaches, but only a few have established them on a broad basis. (The national economy) Those who invest early secure market leadership.

Our strategy: circular economy in practice at Tradingzone

1. planning with foresight

From the outset, we advise you on choosing furniture that is modular, repairable and material-friendly. In this way, we avoid waste right from the design process.

2. flexible usage models

Standard solutions such as rental, leasing or furniture-as-a-service complement the classic purchase. In this way, the owner retains an interest in the material value and guarantees reuse. (fenyx-office.com)

3. refurbishing & Second Life

Furniture is not disposed of, but professionally refurbished, reupholstered or adapted - and then reintroduced into the usage cycle. The result is Second Life office furniture with high quality and a reduced carbon footprint.

4. return & material return

We offer take-back systems - used furniture is analyzed, parts are recycled or reused. Materials are returned as secondary raw materials.

5. transparency & documentation

With digital product passports (material origin, repair history, etc.), we create trust and guarantee traceability - a building block of modern closed-loop solutions. (circular-economy-switzerland.ch)

Furnish sustainably, shape the future

At a time when resource scarcity, climate targets and new ways of working are shaping everyday office life, Tradingzone is consistently rethinking office furnishings. As a Swiss specialist for sustainable office furniture and the circular economy, we have been committed to giving high-quality furniture a second life and thus making a real ecological contribution since 2007.

This furniture is refurbished, reused and returned to the cycle of use. This benefits Swiss SMEs, start-ups, private individuals and large corporations alike.

Circular economy in the office furniture sector - Tradingzone as a pioneer since 2007

The circular economy replaces the outdated linear model of "produce - use - dispose" with closed material and product cycles.

In the office furniture sector, this means:

  • Furniture is designed to be modular, repairable and recyclable
  • Materials are used for as long as possible and reused several times
  • Existing furniture is professionally refurbished and given a "second life"

This is exactly where Tradingzone comes in: Since 2007, we have specialized in developing sustainable and economically viable solutions for office furniture. Thanks to our own workshops, tried-and-tested logistics and a broad network, we are able to systematically return, refurbish and recirculate furniture - efficiently, in a way that conserves resources and has a measurable impact.

Why sustainable office furniture is crucial today - and how Tradingzone provides support

Companies are under increasing pressure to make their office furnishings environmentally friendly, flexible and economical. Regulatory requirements, rising commodity prices and ESG criteria are making sustainable solutions a strategic necessity.

Tradingzone has been helping SMEs, large companies, public institutions, start-ups and private individuals to master this challenge in a practical way for over 17 years:

  • Ecological: We reduce waste and CO₂ emissions through reuse and refurbishing.
  • Economical: Second-life furniture is durable and significantly cheaper than new purchases.
  • Strategic: Sustainability strengthens brand image, employer attractiveness and competitiveness.

Through our daily work, we create real cycles and give office furnishings a second chance - to the benefit of the environment, budget and society.
